EFFECT
OF FAITH WHEN IT COMES IN CONTACT WITH JESUS CHRIST
The
bible has given us the clues of how we can be reconciled back to God and they
basically hinge around a five-letter word ‘FAITH.’ Faith is what made us to
believe that we are born again. Jesus Christ and Saint Paul discussed the relationship
between God and mankind. Paul wrote this in Hebrews 11:6; ‘But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he
that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them
that diligently seek him.’ Simply
put; without faith God is not too keen about us.
There are many cases in the bible where faith
played important role in peoples’ lives but we will consider just two cases
with other references. We will first look at Matthew’s account (Matthew 9:20-22) about a woman with the issue of
blood.
This
woman is chosen as a case study not because she was sick but because of her
actions. In verse 21, she is quoted to have said this; ‘For she said within herself, If I may but
touch his garment, I shall be whole.’ She did not go there to ask
Jesus to heal her but just to make contact with Christ Jesus. She just wanted
to touch His garment and through her faith could receive her healing. In verse
20, we read that she came mainly to touch the hem on the Saviour’s garment. As
we know, she was made whole as soon as she touched His garment.
John
5:4-9 has an interesting account of a man who has been sick for thirty-eight
years; ‘4.
For an angel went down at a
certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first
after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever
disease he had. Because of this man’s
situation (infirmity), he is not able to jump
into the pool when an angel troubles the water.
His
faith was to be healed through jumping into the pool when it is troubled but
luckily for Him, the great healer came around to his rescue. When he was asked
if he wanted to be healed; he talked about how his faith has brought him there
and waited this long; ‘6.When
Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he
saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? 7. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have
no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am
coming, another steppeth down before me.’
His
faith which kept him by the pool attracted the Saviour’s attention and he was
healed. Study John 11:1-44 and pay attention to verse 22. No matter what it is
that we face as we live, let us never forget to take our situation to Christ
Jesus with Faith. It is because of our problems that He came down from above to
take over our afflictions and problems. Put your faith in Jesus Christ that He
will meet your needs and not try to tell Him how to go about meeting those
needs. Let us remember that Christ had not concluded His mission on earth when
these things took place in the New Testament account that I used.
PRAYER
POINT:
15.
And call upon me in the day of trouble: I
will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me (Psalm 50:15).’ Lord according to your Word,
I come to you this day to meet you with faith; I drop my infirmities, and
burdens at your feet. Take over all my worries and problems in Jesus name. I
thank you Lord for taking over my burdens and delivering me in Jesus name.
